“Cultured” and “freshwater” are terms used to describe pearls formation and the environment they are formed in. While “cultured” represents the formation process of pearls, “freshwater” refers to the environment in which the pearls are formed. There’s a belief that cultured pearls can be formed in freshwater, hence why some people say cultured pearls are
